Meet the artist
Hi, I'm Bella, the cute Chihuahua in the photo, and the guy holding me is my proud Daddy, Don Rands. Don is a pet portrait artist, a husband, a father of three and a grandpa of two. We live in beautiful Victoria, B.C. Canada where we enjoy the outdoors and beautiful weather year round.
Don adopted me at the age of 6, and for the next 12 years, we were inseparable. To this day, we are still inseparable, we were destined to be together. I took one look at Don, and I knew I had my work cut out for me and I could not wait to get started.

Don does pet portraits for others as he really loves seeing the look in their eyes and the reaction they have to seeing their cherished family member immortalized in a painting, By incorporating a distinct personality trait or image, like a play on the pet's name or a shared memory, Don's unique pet portraits evoke deep personal feelings for their owners. Giving people the opportunity to have their precious and valued member of their family honored in paint is an honour he enjoys.
A love of colour
Don loves Mexican art with all its organic shapes and vibrant colours, he loves the culture and geography of Mexico and so has adopted that palette and joie-de-vivre for his paintings.
